Director of Nursing Job Description

The Director of Nursing is responsible for leading our team of nurses, carers, catering, housekeeping, and administrative staff to deliver safe, person-centered, high-quality care to residents.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Director of Nursing to manage a team of approximately 70 beds in our nursing home located in Co. Kildare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the team of nurses, carers, catering, housekeeping, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality care is delivered to residents.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HIQA standards and Health Act 2007 regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  • Manage the recruitment and training of new staff members to ensure they meet the required standards.
Requirements:
  • Must be a Registered Nurse with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience in elderly care.
  • At least 3 years in a nursing management role, preferably within a nursing home or similar long-term care setting.
