Key Responsibilities of the Line Manager Role
">The Line Manager is accountable for fostering an environment that inspires and welcomes both colleagues and customers. This involves leading by example, ensuring seamless store operations when the Store Manager or Deputy Manager are not present, and guaranteeing team members are fully trained and validated in their roles.
To achieve this, the Line Manager will:
- Create a motivating atmosphere that encourages collaboration and productivity among team members
- Coach and manage colleagues to empower them to meet customer needs and deliver daily priorities effectively
- Review reports and systems to identify opportunities for improvement, driving enhancements that benefit both customers and colleagues
- Drive a culture of zero food waste, managing date codes, and reducing waste through efficient routines
- Recruit top talent for the team, selecting individuals passionate about delivering excellent customer service
- Manage stock control activities, warehouse layout, and processes to optimize operational efficiency
- Investigate and resolve issues such as incorrect prices, overcharges, refunds, and label errors to ensure accurate pricing
- Recognize outstanding service and provide constructive feedback where necessary
Requirements for Success
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A proven track record of achieving results in fast-paced retail environments
- Adaptability and agility in their approach
- Ability to deliver key objectives and serve as a 'Go To' person for queries
- Capacity to shape and influence at senior levels
- Previous retail experience in a similar role, although not essential
