System Maintenance Engineer - Linux Expert

The ideal candidate for this role is a skilled system maintenance engineer with extensive knowledge of Linux system administration. The position involves providing technical support to enterprise customers, working closely with global teams to ensure consistent software updates and patches.

Main Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Provide high-level technical support and sustaining engineering services to resolve complex customer issues involving Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite, and other system management products.">
  • Work independently to prioritize assigned work and resolve routine to semi-routine issues with limited complexity.">
  • Analyze upstream development against current customer reported product defects and develop patches to resolve issues.">
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive and reusable self-service solutions for future incidents.">

Required Skills and Qualifications:

">

The successful candidate will possess a strong troubleshooting mindset, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently while managing time and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role within an enterprise environment is required, with a proven track record of solving complex problems efficiently.

">

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of system management concepts, including Linux system administration, mass installation, upgrades, configuration management, patch management, and ongoing maintenance.

">

Proficiency in reading and writing code in at least one programming language, preferably Ruby or Python, is essential.

">

Experience with configuration management and automated deployment tools, such as Ansible, Foreman, Katello, or Puppet, is highly desirable.

Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and platforms like GitHub or GitLab, is also advantageous.
