Merchandise Manager Role

The Merchandise Manager is responsible for the delivery of sales, stock turn and contribution budgets in their designated sections. They will work closely with the Merchandising and Buying leadership teams to develop communication techniques and manage trend-led ranges that surprise and delight our customers.

In this role, you will have ownership of your own sections and be accountable for developing a deep understanding of our regional customers and using data and analytics to tailor ranges for different global markets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Commercial Awareness: Assist the team in delivering commercial goals and objectives
  • Strategy and Planning: Support the development of strategic and commercial ranges, considering regional differences and balancing newness, colour, price and product attributes relevant to season and grades
  • Forecasting and Trading: Manage tools and reporting to review information and ensure all aspects of strategic planning are met (including WSSIs, Line Projections, Option Planning). Conduct regular trading reviews with the Buying teams to maximise sales and manage stock levels
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a broad knowledge of Primark product across multiple product areas, including past products and competitor analysis

Requirements for the role include:

  • Experience in a merchandising role for at least three years, at a level equivalent to Assistant Merchandiser
  • Relevant qualification in fashion, analytical or commerce-related subject, or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strategically minded with proficient numerical abilities and ability to identify commercial opportunities
  • Proficient presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based, deadline-driven environment and manage complex tasks and multiple priorities
