Principal Ecologist

Key Responsibilities include overseeing individual contracts to ensure high-quality ecological consultancy services, providing specialist ecological input across various projects and planning conducting and supervising ecological surveys and fieldwork activities. The successful candidate will also lead the preparation of Appropriate Assessments Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs) Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and other environmental reporting requirements produce high-quality technical reports and project deliverables evaluate quality control across all project outputs with a focus on detail accuracy timely delivery and continuous improvement within the Ecology Team act as an expert witness at Oral Hearings when required build and maintain strong client relationships and participate in client and design team meetings as necessary.
Requirements- Possess a degree in ecology or a related discipline and have a minimum of 10 years' post-graduate experience in environmental consultancy. Be a member of CIEEM CIWEM or a comparable professional body demonstrate experience serving as an expert witness participating in oral hearings possess in-depth knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation exhibit strong technical report writing capabilities and display a proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
