Regulatory Expert for Network Tariff Development

Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland beBeeNetwork Full time €40,000 - €80,000

The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) oversees the gas network in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

As a Regulatory Expert, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective tariff structures for the gas network.

  • Collaborate with industry stakeholders to ensure that tariffs are fair and reflect the costs associated with maintaining and improving the network.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners to promote the interests of CRU and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse data and market trends to inform tariff decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Tariff Objectives

The primary objective of the tariffs is to ensure that consumers pay a fair price for the gas they use. This involves balancing the need to recover costs with the requirement to keep prices affordable for households and businesses.

In recent years, there has been a modest increase in the networks element of the average residential gas customer's annual bill, which is approximately €1.28, or less than 1% per annum.

This increase reflects the costs associated with decarbonisation and the broader energy transition. Lower projected gas demand over time is expected to reduce the volume of gas transported through the network, placing upward pressure on future gas network tariffs.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A deep understanding of the gas industry and regulatory frameworks, as well as knowledge of market trends and emerging issues.
Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • A minimum remuneration of €40,000 and a maximum remuneration of €80,000.
  • A remuneration currency of EUR.
