The role of EHR Interoperability Specialist involves contributing to the successful integration of electronic health records across various systems and platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of interoperability workstreams within UPMC Ireland, ensuring seamless connections between critical systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to implement new programs and identify stakeholders, promoting effective governance.
  • Engage with clinical and business teams to enhance end-user experience, fostering a collaborative environment.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a liaison between clinicians and supporting staff, ensuring system design meets clinical documentation and workflow needs.
  • Support engagement sessions, adoption planning, and go-live readiness efforts, facilitating effective communication.
  • Recommend policy changes and process improvements related to system use, enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Facilitate regular workgroup meetings, track milestones, document decisions, and escalate risks.
  • Liaise between interoperability functions and the EHR implementation team, promoting cohesion.
Workflow & System Design
  • Develop and oversee the interoperability strategy and roadmap, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Ensure interoperability scope covers all relevant clinical and business domains, promoting comprehensive integration.
  • Collaborate with clinical, business, and technical teams to support end-to-end integrity across modules, ensuring seamless care delivery.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for interoperability-related functions in MEDITECH, providing authoritative guidance.
Implementation Support, Data Validation & Testing
  • Support testing activities for interoperability unit testing, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, and data exchange simulations.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with IT, finance, and clinical teams, resolving problems efficiently.
  • Evaluate the integration of modules with other enterprise systems to support seamless care delivery and documentation, ensuring accurate outcomes.

This role requires strong experience in health IT or systems integration, including HL7, FHIR, or interface engine technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data privacy regulations, clinical data flows, and interoperability frameworks in healthcare.
