Software Development Director - Managed Services

The role of Software Development Director involves directing and coordinating the activities of matrixed individuals working on customer engagements spread across multiple projects. This includes managing related projects in a coordinated manner to achieve benefits and control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive all aspects of Technical Delivery management activity, including understanding technical deliverables, collaborating and coordinating across the organization.
  • Define Delivery value proposition, work plan, resource needs, timeline, and budget for global programs.
  • Strong background in applications development, maintenance, upgrade, or transformation.
  • Manage resources (i.e., capital requirements and human capital) to complete the delivery objectives on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Manage multiple large and complex projects, programs, or small portfolios that require high levels of functional and technical integration and change.
  • Ensure that the deliverables adhere to the standards and follow the agreed methodology throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive delivery decisions to support the organizational and customer's strategic direction and business objectives.
  • Responsible for identifying and obtaining support and advice required for the management, planning, and control of the Delivery.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in IT industry in Engineering led delivery in a customer-facing leadership role.
  • Strong experience in leading the delivery of technical/data-focused projects within large, highly matrixed organizations. This experience must include delivery management, with a proven ability to coordinate and oversee multiple stakeholders across various functions and geographies.
  • Ability to operate with significant autonomy and discretion.
  • Financial industry compliance awareness, good financial acumen around cost and efficiencies.
  • Multiple delivery methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, and DevOps.
  • Spread of technical skills including Legacy, Cloud, API, Automation Testing, with specialization in at least one.
  • Advanced ability to ensure that effective delivery controls are in place to monitor project or program performance.
  • Advanced capability at providing effective performance reporting for the customer in order to monitor the progress of the Program.
  • Advanced understanding of the links and dependencies between the projects and other in-flight projects and/or business initiatives.
  • Problem-solving skill – Exposure to work on abstract and complex problems requiring evaluation of intangible variables.
