The Alameda County Fire Department provides a wide range of emergency services to the community, including fire suppression, advanced life support, and disaster response. As a Fire Code Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety by conducting inspections and enforcing codes and regulations related to fire prevention.

About the Department: The ACFD is responsible for providing all-risk emergency services to the unincorporated areas of Alameda County, as well as several cities and national laboratories. Our team consists of over 400 personnel and 100 Reserve Firefighters who provide a variety of services, including firefighting, emergency medical services, and fire prevention.

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Division Chief/Fire Marshal or Deputy Fire Marshal, the successful candidate will perform routine on-site inspections of new and existing facilities to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications. This includes reviewing building plans, inspecting construction sites, and investigating complaints related to fire safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of buildings and facilities to ensure compliance with fire codes and regulations
  • Review building plans and specifications to ensure they meet code requirements
  • Investigate complaints related to fire safety and take corrective action as needed
  • Provide education and outreach to the public on fire safety and prevention
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to achieve fire prevention goals

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a field such as fire science, engineering, or architecture2+ years of experience in fire prevention or a related fieldPossession of a valid California Class C Driver's licenseKnowledge of fire codes and regulations, as well as principles of fire prevention
