Global Tax Leadership Opportunity

At ICON, we're seeking a seasoned tax professional to lead our global tax strategy and ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations.

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive tax strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Oversee accurate and timely quarterly US GAAP tax reporting, as well as the preparation and filing of tax returns across jurisdictions.

  • Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize the group's tax position and reduce liabilities.

  • Monitor legislative changes and advise senior leadership on potential impacts and appropriate responses.

  • Manage tax audits and collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities to ensure effective resolution and positive outcomes.

  • Partner with internal finance teams and local advisers to ensure full compliance with tax filing and payment obligations globally.

  • Support internal restructures, new entity set-ups, and business expansion activities from a tax perspective.

  • Assist in the preparation and defense of R&D tax credit claims in collaboration with tax managers and external advisers.

  • Develop and implement global tax policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across all locations.

  • Provide practical, commercially focused tax advice to internal stakeholders across all areas of the business.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local finance teams, external tax advisers, and relevant authorities.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the tax function to streamline processes and deliver added value.

What We're Trying to Accomplish

We're looking for an experienced tax leader who can bring strategic thinking, technical expertise, and exceptional communication skills to our team. As a member of our global tax function, you'll play a key role in driving business growth while ensuring compliance with complex tax laws and regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) with a strong academic background.

  • 3-5 years' post-qualification experience in a dedicated tax role, either in practice or in a similar industry role.

  • Extensive experience in corporate tax, with a solid understanding of both UK and international tax matters.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage and mentor tax professionals in a global, fast-paced environment.

  • Proven expertise in tax compliance, reporting, planning, and audit management.

  • Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to align tax strategy with wider business objectives.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence at all levels.

  • Strong working knowledge of tax technology and financial systems, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external networks.
