Job Title:

Senior Database Developer – Oracle Expert

Overview:

As a seasoned expert in database development, we are seeking an individual to play a key role in delivering robust software solutions for government clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to shape the data backbone of critical public services and ensure performance, reliability, and scalability at every level.

Responsibilities:
  1. Designing and building complex Oracle database schemas to ensure stability, reliability, and performance
  2. Developing customised reports and system generated documents using Oracle PL/SQL coding
  3. Creating scripts to generate views, procedures, functions, triggers, indexes, constraints, and packages
  4. Ensuring adherence to Department and Oracle standards through coding
  5. Performing preventative maintenance activities to maintain application code and documentation
  6. Managing project source code and documentation effectively
  7. Conducting developer code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables
  8. Providing mentoring and skills transfer to colleagues as required
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject

Essential skills include technical expertise in:

  • Oracle PL/SQL coding, including dynamic SQL, bind variables, and array processing
  • Database tuning and performance monitoring
  • Data modelling and database design
  • Issue analysis, diagnosis, and resolution
  • Writing complex PL/SQL for Oracle 19c databases
  • Experience with Jenkins instance administration and Windows executable building
  • Understanding of APEX Themes, CSS, and UI customization

Additional technical requirements include:

  • Manipulating Excel spreadsheets using only PL/SQL (read and write)
  • Ability to manipulate binary files (BLOB) in PL/SQL
  • Programmatically reading and writing JSON and XML using custom PL/SQL
