The Occupational Health Manager plays a pivotal role within an organization, overseeing the well-being of employees and customers across all facets of the business.

The primary objective is to maintain a secure working environment, minimize incidents and accidents, and foster a culture of occupational health throughout the group.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement occupational health policies and procedures in compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Communicate occupational health policies and procedures with managers and staff across the group.
  • Compile site-specific safety statements and risk assessments for each site, ensuring accurate documentation and regular review.
  • Deal with external site inspections, communicate with regulatory bodies, and address any concerns or issues that arise.
  • Perform occupational health site audits to identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
  • Manage audit actions, follow up on findings, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Oversee and provide training programs for staff and managers to ensure compliance with first aid, manual handling, fire safety, and other essential training requirements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive training database for all on-site staff training.
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations, compile reports, and follow up to prevent recurrences.
  • Analyze accident and incident trends, communicate findings at the group level, and highlight key action areas to reduce and prevent incidents.
  • Assume accountability for the occupational health of employees and customers across all sites and develop a strong health culture within the group.
  • Identify, train, and support health representatives on each site to promote a health-first culture.
  • Review and develop accident reporting systems to ensure accurate recording and reporting of incidents and accidents.
  • Review and update safety documents as required.
  • Participate in insurance inspections to reduce claims and costs by actively completing risk assessments and eliminating hazards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify areas for improvement.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety policies.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH).
