The position of Design and Certification Engineer involves developing, integrating, and documenting interior payload system requirements to establish the system design of large aircraft modifications. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, customer requirements, and company procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the Interiors Engineering Manager and working with the global engineering services team to identify requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming projects.
  • Developing engineering design solutions using CAD for modifications to aircraft cabin systems such as modification to cabin layout, installation of galleys, monuments, lavatories, modification to existing aircraft environmental systems, introduction of new aircraft paint schemes, and installation/modification of new OFCR and OCRS.
  • Producing substantiation documents to demonstrate compliance with regulatory and operational requirements, including flammability documentation, design reports, ground test plans, and system safety analysis.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in aircraft interiors mechanical/structural design engineering.
  • Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry specifically working with an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation is preferable.
  • CATIA V5 and/or AutoCAD industrial experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of aircraft interior reconfiguration programmes and primary and secondary aircraft structures is preferable.
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal forming/fabrication/machining, aircraft material and fastener selection, hole size types, sealants & finishing, and EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements.
