Senior Ecologist Role

We are seeking a skilled ecologist to work alongside engineers, environmental scientists, and other professionals on infrastructure projects in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing ecological input to environmental projects.

About the Job:

The Senior Ecologist will play a key role in delivering key infrastructure projects while pursuing ecological opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ecologist to join our team and contribute to our portfolio of projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and independently to achieve project goals.
  • Organise and manage ecological input to environmental projects.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality reports to required best practice standards; including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), and biodiversity chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR); as well as Appropriate Assessments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop effective project management strategies.
  • Mentor junior staff and support them in their career development.
Requirements:
  • Degree in ecology or related subject.
  • Membership or working towards chartered membership of relevant professional body.
  • Relevant post-graduate experience within a consultancy environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of Appropriate Assessment process within Ireland.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of relevant planning and ecological / environmental legislation, and technical guidance and industry standards / best practice.
  • Experience of project and budget management.
  • Knowledge of managing data using GIS (QGIS, MapInfo or ArcGIS).
  • Full clean driver's licence.
