Job Description: Lead Mechanical Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team on a prestigious project in West Dublin. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the engineering requirements of the project, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with mechanical contractors, with a strong understanding of process mechanical/pipework. They will also possess excellent organisational and project planning skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the engineering requirements of the project, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Familiarise with design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of the project works.
  • Oversee the coordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel, ensuring spec compliance and priority scheduling.
  • Assess subcontract and supplier tender returns for technical compliance with design intent specifications.
  • Manage the technical submittal and approvals process.
  • Manage material procurement utilising Engineering Materials Report (EMR), producing material take-offs identifying lead-in periods and field need rates.
  • Ensure works are installed in accordance with project specifications and quality assurance plans.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure adequate information flow to ensure works progress in line with the project schedule and weekly meetings logged.
  • Evaluate and promote the use of new engineering practices and processes to enhance delivery times.
  • Prepare and agree project completion criteria and close-out documents.
  • Prepare subcontract and supplier tender packages in conjunction with project QS and manage work packs from development, implementation, and handover.
  • Manage BIM priorities, including isometric generation and release.

Necessary Requirements:

  • 3-7 years' experience working with a recognised mechanical/electrical contractor in process mechanical/pipework.
  • Excellent organisational and project planning skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Navisworks and database systems related to engineering functions.
  • Familiarity with Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM processes.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Knowledge of modularisation (off-site fabrication).
