Job Overview:

  • The ideal candidate will lead research and development projects from concept to launch.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Representing R&D on New Product Development project teams
  • Conducting research on new ideas and technologies/materials, evaluating technology performance and stability
  • Sourcing/selecting materials and components, evaluating their suitability
  • Developing product and component specifications to ensure the product consistently performs to meet customer needs
  • Developing new test methods to characterize and measure the product's performance
  • Providing technical R&D support to other functions, including Global Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Managing project schedules, conducting risk analysis and ensuring timely completion of project activities
  • Collaborating with patent counsel to support patent searches and patent application preparation
  • Creating relevant design documents, including technical reports, drawings and specifications
  • Planning and performing design verification and validation activities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of commercial experience in a R&D role in the Medical Device Industry

Skills:

  • Ability to think creatively, exploring novel concepts and approaches
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D modelling software
  • Strong analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to manage projects, directing team members' work
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Good understanding of medical device quality and regulatory systems
