The Senior Town Planner Infrastructure works collaboratively as part of the Planning Department within Infrastructure to ensure good planning outcomes on complex statutory planning policy submissions, stakeholder engagements and planning projects.

The successful candidate will undertake statutory town planning and associated activities, and will support the delivery of the Infrastructure capital programme.


  • Key Responsibilities:
Develop planning strategies for infrastructure projects and oversee their implementation.
Identify planning risk and mitigations in order to provide strategic planning advice and opinions.
Contribute meaningfully to ongoing improvement in planning outcomes across the Infrastructure capital programme.

Engage at a technical level with national, regional and local policy makers to ensure that the strategic objectives of the Contracting Entity are reflected as far as possible in emerging planning and environmental policy.

Represent the Company's interests in written and verbal submissions to ensure that emerging planning policy and legislation is robust and fit for purpose and meets the operational, safety and development needs of the airport.

Prepare, co-ordinate and manage Planning Applications from inception to decision which will include stakeholder engagement, and the coordination/oversight of all supporting documents.

Oversee Airport planning safeguarding with respect to land use policies for Dublin and Cork Airports.

Monitor and advise the Executive Team on planning applications for developments outside the airport boundary which may impact on or be impacted by the Airport.

Prepare appropriate and relevant reports on the planning function to the business.

Key Education, Experience & Qualifications:
A third-level town planning qualification (degree or post-graduate level) accredited by either the IPI and/or RTPI.
5-8+ Years of relevant experience.
An excellent knowledge of applicable Irish and EU planning and environmental legislation and policy.

In the event that a candidate has not practiced in ROI, a sound understanding of the Irish planning system, principles, and legislation must be demonstrated.

A demonstrable record in the area of Development Management (including site risk assessments, planning opinions, planning applications and appeals, exemptions and planning strategy).

Applicants should demonstrate experience of successfully managing large complex projects through the planning system.
Good experience of preparing and submitting observations to influence and inform emerging planning, environmental and sectoral policy.

Applicants should have a strong record of sound judgement and decision making in complex planning areas with many variables Skills Candidates should be able to take strategic direction, work on their own initiative, be resourceful and approach project challenges with a solution focus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, including an ability to present technical information to a wide range of non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to handle complex planning issues and make informed recommendations.
Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, project management skills and ability to work to deadlines.
