Food Safety Manager – Meat Industry

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance with industry regulations. This is a 15-month fixed term contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust food safety systems to ensure compliance with BRCGS, ISO, and other relevant standards.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities to ensure legal compliance and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring readiness for regulatory and customer inspections.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and review of the site's HACCP plan.
  • Manage non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain the Quality Management System and associated documentation.
  • Oversee calibration, testing, and maintenance of equipment critical to quality control.
  • Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting for validations and performance indicators.
  • Lead investigation and solution of product complaints, recalls, or quality incidents.
  • Ensure robust traceability systems are in place for effective incident management.
  • Partner with production, R&D, and supply chain teams to maintain product quality and process efficiency.
  • Contribute to NPD by providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance.
  • Lead and support the QA team, providing training, guidance, and performance management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a technical role within food manufacturing is essential, preferably at management level.
  • Strong understanding of the meat industry and its equipment and services.
  • Flexibility (The site operates 24/7).
  • Excellent management and communication skills.
