The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting these young individuals and their families through comprehensive psychological assessments and dynamic interventions addressing the unique challenges that visual impairment may present in terms of development, learning, social interactions, and emotional regulation.
This position offers the opportunity to build specific expertise and knowledge of working with the visually impaired population within a dynamic, supportive environment, where you will collaborate with other professionals, including functional vision assessors, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, orientation and mobility instructors, and early year teachers to provide holistic care for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for children and adolescents with visual impairments, using appropriate clinical tools and techniques.
- Assess cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioural development, ensuring consideration of the impact of visual impairment.
- Provide individual and group therapy, using evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of each child or adolescent.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, educators, and family members to provide coordinated care.
