As an Intellectual Disability Support Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting these individuals in achieving their goals and enhancing their overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments of need for individuals and develop individualised support plans tailored to their specific requirements.
- Collaborate with individuals to identify and achieve their personal goals, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
- Support individuals in preparing healthy meals, fostering a culture of wellness and nutrition.
- Assist individuals in all aspects of daily living, including personal care, managing complex needs, and behaviours.
- Facilitate access to healthcare professionals and maintain effective communication with families.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, ensuring their involvement in the care and well-being of the individual.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum qualification: Level 7 Social Care Degree or equivalent.
- Current CORU-Social Care Worker registration.
- A full, clean, manual Irish driving licence.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland without sponsorship.
- Proficiency in Person Centred Planning, Advocacy, Safeguarding, and Risk Management principles.
- Understanding of challenging behaviours and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal, organisational, and initiative skills.
- IT skills and ability to perform administrative tasks efficiently.
