Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Specialist to join our team.

  • This role involves developing and preparing transport strategies for large towns and local areas.
  • You will lead multidisciplinary design teams and partners in designing transport networks for new towns, residential & commercial developments in accordance with DMURS standards.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the design & appraisal of Active Travel schemes (walking & cycling) in urban and rural environments including greenways.
  • You will also design bus priority schemes and traffic management schemes (including environmental improvement and traffic calming schemes) for towns and villages.
  • In addition, you will provide assistance/advice to other departments on roads/highway design, street network design, car park design, and service access strategies.
  • Furthermore, you will provide transport related advice and services to support high profile clients in the development of large residential, commercial and educational developments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role.
  • You should have strong numerical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in transport modelling is required.
  • A relevant engineering/planning degree and either hold or are working towards Chartered status.
  • Ideally, you should hold a relevant postgraduate or Masters qualification.
  • Experience with the NTA RMS (Desired) or variable demand modelling is preferred.
  • You should be proficient in using tools such as Cube, SATURN, Aimsun, Paramics, Vissum, Vissim, EMME.
  • Excellent analytical skills to inform decision making, including spreadsheet, data analysis.
  • Use and application of GIS Techniques to transport modelling outputs and analysis.
  • Experience working with complex datasets.
  • Qualitative & quantitative research skills.
