Cpl Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join our team in the National Violence Reduction Unit (NVRU) located in Midlands Prison, Co. Laois.
Job DescriptionThe NVRU is a psychologically informed service that provides an enhanced support system to individuals in custody experiencing high levels of psychological distress and displaying violent behavior. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for delivering bespoke psychological interventions to individuals with complex forensic and clinical needs.
You will work closely with the Senior Psychologist and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive assessment and treatment plans. Your role will involve providing consultation, education, guidance, and support to operational staff, promoting a joint operational/psychological approach.
The appointed Clinical Psychologist will have opportunities for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), including training in Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) approaches. You will also engage in assessment and intervention activities across the prison estate, ensuring a balanced experience.
To be successful in this role, you must hold a postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognized by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS). Experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma and personality difficulties is desirable.
