Job Description

The Planning and Development Manager will oversee a portfolio of residential-led development projects, guiding them through feasibility, design, and planning stages. This role involves collaborating with internal teams to prepare projects for development, including financial appraisals, contract negotiations, and service charges.

This position requires a deep understanding of legislation, national, and local planning policy to inform project proposals. The successful candidate will be able to advise internal teams on planning elements and manage external professional services to deliver planning consents.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Keep abreast of legislative changes and updates to national and local planning policy;
  • Support internal teams in relation to planning aspects of project delivery;
  • Manage external professional services to achieve planning consents;
  • Liaise with Local Authorities, stakeholders, and relevant state bodies to secure planning approvals;
  • Discharge planning conditions as required;
  • Collaborate with project management teams to ready projects for construction;
  • Ensure alignment between scheme designs and budget targets;
  • Contribute to ongoing profitability analysis of own projects;
  • Identify opportunities to add value or reduce costs on existing and new developments;

Requirements:

  • A degree in planning or a related field, preferably postgraduate qualified;
  • MRTPI / MSCSI qualification or working towards chartership;
  • Previous experience in taking projects through the planning process;
  • Experience working on residential and/or commercial development projects, with circa 3-5 years' experience;
  • Good understanding of the 'due diligence' process in land development acquisition;
  • Familiarity with the development lifecycle from pre-construction to sales/leasing;
