Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Automation Specialist to lead our building automation projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing cutting-edge control systems.

This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and project teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical guidance to a project team of 2-5 engineers, ensuring successful project execution.
  • Identify and assign tasks within the project team, promoting efficient workflow and collaboration.
  • Lead customer meetings and assist with proposal generation, estimating hardware costs and engineering effort required for each project.
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers, fostering long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Instrumentation & Electrical Design:
    • Create instrument lists by examining P&ID drawings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Research instrumentation and select devices suitable for each project, considering factors such as performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Compile submittal documentation for controls and instrument hardware, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • System Design and Configuration:
    • Configure user interface and HMI screens, providing an intuitive and user-friendly experience.
    • Configure DDC, PLC, and/or DCS control algorithms, ensuring optimal system performance and efficiency.
    • Execute internal functional and quality control testing, identifying and resolving issues before project completion.
  • Onsite System Startup:
    • Install project software and configuration onto site systems, ensuring seamless integration.
    • Perform software calibration and tuning, optimizing system performance and stability.
    • Conduct functional tests of all systems, verifying correct operation and functionality.
Requirements:Technical Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or related technical degree, demonstrating strong foundational knowledge.
  • 3+ years of experience in a related field/industry, showcasing technical expertise and leadership abilities.
  • Controls experience in at least one of the following platforms:
    • Rockwell: FactoryTalk Suite, RS Logix/Studio 5000, familiarity with PlantPAx DCS.
    • Aveva System Platform.
    • Inductive Ignition Perspective.
    • Distech: Experience with BACnet and LON Distech controllers, Eclypse Controllers.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems in large building automation systems, including sequence of operations and P&IDs.
