Complex Infrastructure Project Director

Delivering complex infrastructure projects requires exceptional leadership and management skills. As a seasoned project director, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of multiple projects within our Airfield Programme.

The role is high profile and high priority, with a focus on building capacity and capability at the Contracting Entity and delivering on obligations to the Regulator, customers, and passengers.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team and manage stakeholders effectively, ensuring the programme's objectives are met and that safety is at the heart of everything done at the airport.

Your key responsibilities will include managing budgets, providing reporting, and ensuring resources are well deployed and managed.

You will also determine and track delivery milestones and key performance indicators, coordinate support from functions, and ensure delivery excellence and performance on the programme.

Comply with governance processes and ensure programme submissions are appropriate to enable progress through Control Points to assure delivery.

Work with key stakeholders across the aviation community, partners, and the wider organisation to apply oversight, expertise, and sound judgment in either yourself or by seeking independent verification through the Head of Quality Assurance.

Educate risk escalation procedures to Head of Delivery for mitigation/resolution.

Manage programme governance structures and establish their consistent use throughout the programme Team.

Keep the programme aligned with business/portfolio/programme priorities and strategies.

Identify and leverage opportunities for implementation of continuous improvement and lean techniques to reduce costs and release programme contingency.

Discharge delegated authority for low and medium-risk projects in line with corporate/portfolio governance.

Deliver the programme outcomes specified in the functional briefs within the control baseline and associated tolerances.

Lead the attainment of consents for works delivery, and compliance with programme commitments and undertakings.

Effectively manage teams of project controls, design, and other support consultants in an effort to properly allocate resources and maximize efficiencies across the programme.

Where appropriate, challenge forecasts and information produced by Project Managers and/or suppliers.

Lead a safety culture and associated behaviors, in order to promote health and safety across the Programme and wider organisation.

This role involves leading a large-scale, high-value programme of works, managing multi-faceted stakeholders with differing and sometimes conflicting opinions and requirements.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to manage and lead a complex construction project, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to create a collaborative culture across the programme team.

A recognised expert in their field with a vast experience and skill set drawn from construction, infrastructure, buildings, logistics, project and programme leadership and management is required.

Candidates should have a track record of delivering high-risk and complex construction projects, managing large-scale budgets within a commercial construction environment, and possessing outstanding delivery records.

They should also be able to identify and leverage opportunities for continuous improvement and lean techniques, discharge delegated authority, and deliver programme outcomes within specified timelines.
