Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Director to join our dynamic team at Lawler Sustainability. As a member of our Senior Leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and development, and will have key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

As the Commercial Director, you will collaborate with the leadership team to formulate strategies, establish objectives, and execute initiatives that foster company expansion, enduring profitability, and success.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the engineering consultancy, aligning it with overall business objectives and ensuring sustained growth.
  2. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that exceed expectations.
  3. Take charge of financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, and ensure effective cost management and identification of opportunities for revenue enhancement.
  4. Lead negotiations of commercial agreements and contracts, ensuring favourable terms and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  5. Monitor and manage ongoing contracts to optimize outcomes.
  6. Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential business opportunities.
  7. Provide insights to support informed decision-making.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and project management, to ensure a cohesive approach in delivering client solutions and achieving business objectives.
  9. Assess and manage commercial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate potential issues and safeguard the consultancy's reputation and financial interests.
  10. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to commercial activities.
  11. Regularly report on progress and implement improvements based on performance metrics.
  12. Drive business development initiatives to expand the company's client base and market presence.
  13. Identify and pursue opportunities for new business and strategic partnerships.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of 10+ years of experience in a similar role, including at least 5 years of team leadership or people management experience.

A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Sales, or other relevant discipline is required, as well as excellent negotiation skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to coach and lead a team toward success.

You will also need strong analytical skills and the ability to create and deploy strategic and tactical plans, effective problem-solving skills, and technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Google Analytics, Active Campaign, and Word Press.
