Job Title: Child Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced child nurse specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working one on one with children in their own home and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled nurse to take on a challenging and rewarding role, working closely with children with complex needs and disabilities.

Nursing Responsibilities:
  • MEDICATION MANAGEMENT: Administering medications to children with complex conditions, including managing seizure disorders if required.
  • SEIZURE MANAGEMENT: Managing seizures, including the administration of buccal midazolam if necessary.
  • NEBULIZER MANAGEMENT: Using nebulizers for children with respiratory issues.
  • PAIN MANAGEMENT: Assessing and managing pain in children with complex needs.
  • CARE OF CHILD WITH COMPLEX NEEDS/DISABILITY: Providing personal care and support to children with disabilities or complex medical conditions.
  • AIRWAY MANAGEMENT: Maintaining airway patency in children who are at risk of respiratory compromise.
  • SUCTIONING: Suctioning children's airways as needed.
  • STOMA CARE MANAGEMENT: Managing stoma care for children with ostomies.
  • MOVING AND HANDLING/HOIST AND RE-POSITIONING: Safely moving and handling children with complex needs.
  • SKIN INTEGRITY MANAGEMENT: Maintaining skin integrity in children with complex needs.
  • PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES/CONFIDENTIALITY: Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality when caring for children with complex needs.
  • WORKING IN THE HOME ENVIRONMENT/LONE WORKER: Working independently in the child's home environment, often without direct supervision.
  • INFECTIOUS CONTROL AND DISPOSAL OF CLINICAL WASTE: Maintaining infection control practices and disposing of clinical waste properly.
  • CPR: Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed.
