Ecology Consultant Role

We are seeking a seasoned ecology consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ecological consultancy, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in post-graduate roles.

Job Description

This exciting opportunity involves managing ecology contracts and delivering high-quality consultancy services. You will provide ecological input into various projects, including wind farms, road schemes, and commercial developments.

You will conduct and oversee ecological fieldwork and species/habitat surveys, prepare and review Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), lead the preparation of Appropriate Assessments (AA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and Biodiversity chapters for EIARs.

You will also write and review detailed technical reports, ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of deliverables, and represent the company as an expert witness at Oral Hearings.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A degree in Ecology or a related discipline;
  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant post-graduate experience in consultancy;
  • Full membership (or eligibility) of CIEEM, CIWEM, or a similar professional body;
  • Strong technical report writing and project management skills;
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation;
  • Demonstrated experience in CEMP preparation and implementation;
  • A comfortable working environment;
  • A full clean driving licence (required for site travel).
