Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician - Exciting Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Medical Laboratory Technician. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care by collecting blood samples, performing phlebotomy and electrocardiography services, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory results.


Responsibilities:
  • Collect venous blood samples from patients and provide peripheral IV cannulation and phlebotomy services.
  • Perform electrocardiography tracing for all procedures and interact with patients to obtain and verify information for laboratory records.
  • Identify patients by verifying name, date of birth, and hospital number or address before proceeding with procedures.
  • Explain procedures, allay fears, and elicit cooperation and consent from patients.
  • Ensure patient dignity is protected at all times and maintain confidentiality in line with data protection policy.
  • Provide aftercare and assistance to patients affected by procedures.
  • Clean specified equipment in accordance with infection control and local cleaning policies.
  • Maintain basic level of IT skills and participate in audit and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements:
  • Professional qualifications and experience in medical laboratory technology or related field.
  • Knowledge of pathology lab tests and safety issues, including awareness of common laboratory investigations and their requirements.
  • Ability to work flexibly and under pressure, demonstrating planning and organizing skills, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a quality service and a patient-centered focus.
