This role involves meeting the insurance needs of customers through our broker channel.
We are seeking a Business Lines New Business Underwriter to work closely with broker partners and internal functions to ensure all areas of the business are managed in accordance with framework, policies, authority levels, and guidelines while delivering on our financial plan.
The ideal candidate will have 3 years plus industry knowledge and hold or be working towards relevant professional qualifications such as CIP, MDI, ACII.
Key responsibilities include:
- Underwriting and analysing new business submissions in adherence with the Zurich Way of underwriting, Zurich risk appetite, and within delegated authority levels.
- Negotiating terms & conditions with broker partners in line with our agreed strategy and target risk appetite while nurturing broker relationships.
- Managing and proactively prioritising new business pipeline and work queues, in conjunction with Sales and Distribution, ensuring agreed SLAs are adhered to.
- Engaging with Sales and Distribution, Risk Engineering (when applicable), and broker partners to generate, drive, and secure new business opportunities.
- Building relationships in support of customer/business acquisition and retention by handling a range of queries and providing advice to assist with the development of an account.
- Implementing agreed technical standards, controls, practices, and procedures to maintain underwriting discipline.
- Contributing ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions based on technical, customer, and distributor insights, supporting testing, pricing feedback, and participating in training where necessary.

- Knowledge of Zurich products/policy wordings.
