**Job Description**

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Teacher of the Deaf to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work closely with children, families, and professionals to provide educational support and promote consistency of expectations.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background, including a teaching qualification recognized by the Department of Education and Skills, as well as experience teaching a wide range of deaf children in various educational settings and communication modes.

The role involves assessing and selecting candidates for cochlear implantation, providing direct contact between home, school, and implant centre, and counselling and advising parents, teachers, and other relevant professionals on the implant and optimal support.

The Teacher of the Deaf will also be responsible for attending weekly clinics, meeting families, and providing relevant information and support, as well as assisting with audiological testing of children as required.

In addition, the successful candidate will participate in counseling and information groups organized by the implant centre speech and language therapists, and provide long-term support to children's families and teachers as appropriate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and selecting candidates for cochlear implantation

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

To be considered for this role, the successful candidate must possess:

  • A teaching qualification recognized by the Department of Education and Skills
  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Deaf Education or Special Education-Hearing Impairment or an equivalent qualification
  • Experience teaching a wide range of deaf children in various educational settings and communication modes
