Automation Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support manufacturing and R&D projects on-site. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in automation engineering, ideally in the medical device sector or other regulated manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Automation System Development & Integration
    • Design, develop, and integrate automation systems and processes for manufacturing and R&D
    • Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce waste, and increase throughput
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery
  • Project Collaboration & Planning
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements and create detailed project plans
    • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed solutions
  • Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
    • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with automation hardware and software
    • Implement preventative maintenance and reliability improvements
    • Analyse system performance and recommend enhancements
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Evaluate all automation systems for compliance with medical device regulations, safety standards, and company policies
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including User manuals Maintenance procedures Project reports Support internal and external audits as required
Qualifications & Experience:
  • NFQ Level 7 qualification (180 credits) in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, or related discipline
  • Industry experience: Proven track record in automation engineering, ideally in the medical device sector or other regulated manufacturing environments
  • Technical skills: PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI development SCADA systems integration CAD software proficiency
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and control systems Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team Desirable: Project Management Certification (PMP or equivalent)
