Occupational Health Nurse Role Overview

This is a dynamic and challenging role within the Occupational Health department, offering a unique opportunity to work with a dedicated team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to employees, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment. This will involve conducting health assessments, administering vaccinations, and managing occupational health records.

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments to identify potential health risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Administer vaccinations and provide education on immunization best practices.
  • Manage occupational health records, ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration in the General Division of the Live Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board Ireland.
  • Requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of clinical and administrative capacity, for the proper discharge of duties.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers within the last two years.
  • Initial National Anaphylaxis Education Programme for Healthcare Professionals certification, with recertification required every two years.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills and administrative knowledge.
  • Phlebotomy and vaccination administration competency essential for this role.
  • Basic knowledge of health screening, surveillance, and pre-employment medicals desirable.

Reporting Relationships:

The successful candidate will report administratively and professionally to the Senior Nurse in the service and professionally to the Director of Nursing Occupational Health. Clinical reporting will be to the Occupational Health Physician.
