Job Description:

Excel Healthcare is recruiting a senior occupational therapist to join a well-supported community adult mental health team. The role involves maintaining and building on a strong OT presence, promoting recovery, enhancing occupational performance, and supporting individuals to live independently and meaningfully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Manage a complex caseload of adults with varying mental health presentations, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.">
  • Carry out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify functional needs and inform care planning.">
  • Design and deliver individual and group-based interventions focused on improving daily living skills, community participation, vocational goals, and social engagement.">
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop recovery-focused care plans tailored to each service user.">
  • Participate in discharge planning, transition support, and liaison with primary care, community supports, and family/carers.">
  • Supervise and support the professional development of junior Occupational Therapists or students as required.">
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical documentation, in line with HSE standards and occupational therapy best practice.">
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, including the development of protocols, audits, and outcome measurement.">
  • Promote mental health awareness and advocate for occupational therapy within the wider community and MDT.">

Required Skills and Qualifications:

">

The ideal candidate will have a BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy, CORU registration, and minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 1 year in adult mental health. Experience delivering occupational therapy in the community and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team are essential.
