eBay's traffic engineering team is responsible for building and managing platforms that handle all public and private site traffic. As a part of this team, you'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver the platform and contribute to open-source projects.

The ideal candidate will work on building a very resilient distributed system at eBay's edges that can proxy all of eBay traffic and service mesh for all services with unparalleled observability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain traffic management solutions.
  • Implement and optimize network protocols and configurations.
  • Develop high-performance applications in C++, Go, and Python.
  • Deploy and manage scalable systems on Kubernetes.
  • Contribute to kernel development and optimization for improved system performance.
  • Design and implement service meshes using Istio to manage microservices efficiently.
  • Implement observability tools and practices to monitor system performance and health.
  • Cross-functionally integrate networking solutions.
  • Analyze traffic patterns.
  • Contribute to open-source projects.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in cloud networking.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ or Go.
  • Experience with observability tools and practices.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Envoy and Istio for traffic control and service mesh management.
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Certifications in networking, Kubernetes, or related fields.
  • High-traffic environment experience.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages or frameworks.
