Afterschool Program Assistant
">Our organization is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Afterschool Program Assistant. This role will play a vital part in providing a safe and engaging environment for school-age children, promoting their academic and personal growth through various activities and programs.
">- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants by providing proper supervision at all times.
- Develop and implement meaningful activities, lesson plans, and special events that cater to diverse interests and needs.
- Prepare the learning environment, lessons, and necessary materials for program activities.
- Support the coordination and presentation of a culminating performance at the end of the program cycle, if applicable.
- Provide support to Activity Specialists with activity implementation.
- Assist participants with homework and academic enhancement activities.
- Work collaboratively with program and school staff to ensure a cohesive and effective program.
- Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment that values diversity and respect.
- Create and maintain a strength-based atmosphere that caters to the unique needs of each participant.
- Serve as a positive role model for participants and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- Maintain accurate program documentation, including sign-in/out forms, behavior reports, and incident reports, as required.
- Communicate the goals and values of the program to participants and caregivers, ensuring they understand the importance of their role in supporting their child's development.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians and caregivers through regular communication regarding their child's strengths and areas for growth.
- Participate actively in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events to enhance professional development and stay updated on program standards and regulations.
- Foster a culture of mutual respect, trust, and open communication among team members, stakeholders, and community partners.
Requirements:
">- High school diploma or equivalent required; college credits preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience working with youth under 13 in a group setting required.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
