Home Care Support Worker

As a skilled Home Care Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing essential care and assistance to our clients in the comfort of their own homes. Your key role will be to enhance their quality of life and provide them with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with personal hygiene needs, including bathing, hair care, dressing, and undressing.
  • Support clients who require help during meal times.
  • Evaluate dietary requirements and ensure that these are met, including special diets and supplementary drinks, under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
  • Report any concerns regarding client nutrition or hydration to the relevant authorities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to turn and reposition clients using appropriate equipment, such as hoists or sliding sheets. Assist clients with walking and limb exercises as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Accompany clients within and, in certain circumstances, outside the residence.
  • Communicate any client complaints of pain or distress to healthcare staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in client living areas, including restocking linen supplies and ensuring personal clothing is stored correctly.
  • Care for clients with incontinence issues, promoting continence awareness among bed-confined clients.
  • Manage toilet duties, including providing, removing, and emptying bedpans, urinals, and commodes using disinfection equipment.
  • Dispose of waste, including clinical waste.
Requirements:
  • Level 5 in Care Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a similar home care setting.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge and application of safe working practices.
  • Ability to use necessary equipment for assigned tasks.
  • Successful Garda vetting.
