Health and Safety Manager Position

This is a key role for a skilled professional who can maintain the highest standards of safety, health, environmental and quality across all operations.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal part in ensuring our company maintains excellent SHEQ standards by proactively managing risks and creating a safe working environment for everyone involved.

  • Develop and implement effective EHSQ practices, policies and procedures to meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with new legislation and have a thorough understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Promote employee awareness and training for EHSQ and foster a proactive EHSQ culture among all staff members.
  • Prepare and update all relevant health and safety procedures, policies, safety statements etc.
  • Ensure all staff are informed about all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Distribute all relevant health and safety procedures and policies.
  • Plan, procure and arrange Health and Safety training for all staff.
  • Manage safety officers and allocate them to live sites.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with Health and Safety legislation on site.
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations as necessary.
  • Be responsible for preparing all accident and incident reports.
  • Maintain and update accident and incident statistics.
  • Liaise with insurance providers regarding any claims.
  • Prepare Health and Safety plans for all projects.
  • Liaise with statutory bodies in relation to health, safety and environmental matters.
  • Implement and audit ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards.
  • Maintain and implement 'SafeTcert' accreditation.
  • Carry out site safety audits and inspections.
  • Provide guidance and support to safety officers.
  • Ensure our activities are addressed in all health and safety documents and procedures.
  • Address any safety non-conformances and propose improvements to standards.
  • Report to senior management on any safety-related issues.
  • Order and maintain a stock of safety supplies.
  • Liaise with the marketing department to promote safety through social media.
  • Assist with tenders and other business development activities.
  • Prepare presentations for client meetings and tendering processes.
  • Lead safety campaigns such as Safety Week.
  • Chair regular Safety Meetings with the safety team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety/Higher Diploma SHWW/Diploma SHWW.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Publisher, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Safe Pass and Manual Handling certifications.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish Health and Safety legislation.
