Job Title: Office 365 Security & Governance Manager

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and proactive security professional to join our IT team. This role will focus on strengthening our Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring secure collaboration, robust data protection, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing security and governance controls across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

\helpers h3>Key Responsibilities
  • \\li>Design, implement, and manage Office 365/Microsoft 365 security and compliance controls, ensuring best practices are followed.\\li>Configure and monitor Microsoft Purview (Compliance Center) policies including: Information Protection (Sensitivity Labels, Encryption).\\li>Data Lifecycle Management and Retention Policies.\\li>Manage and monitor Microsoft Defender for Office 365, including Safe Links and Safe Attachments.\\li>Phishing and malware protection; Threat investigation and response.\\li>Administer Conditional Access policies and integration with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) for identity protection and access control.\\li>Provide governance across M365 workloads, including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and OneDrive.\\li>Support and enhance audit logging, alerting, and reporting using Microsoft Purview Audit, Microsoft 365 Defender, and other SIEM tools.\\li>Perform regular reviews of security posture using Microsoft Secure Score and Compliance Score, and drive remediation actions.\\li>Collaborate with compliance, legal, and data privacy teams to align policies with regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).\\li>Conduct security assessments, risk analysis, and incident response specific to M365 services.\\li>Stay up to date with Microsoft 365 roadmap changes, features, and best practices, and assess their impact on organizational security and governance.
\helpers h3>Required Skills & Experience
  • \\li>7+ years of hands-on experience in Microsoft 365 security and governance roles.\\li>Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra ID.\\li>Strong experience with Microsoft Purview Compliance Suite and Microsoft Defender for Office 365.\\li>Proficiency with Conditional Access, Identity Governance, MFA, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).\\li>Familiarity with Microsoft Secure Score and Compliance Manager.\\li>Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and reporting.\\li>Experience with hybrid M365 environments (on-prem to cloud migration scenarios).\\li>Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and modern security architectures.\\li>Experience with third-party M365 security tools (e.g., Varonis, Proofpoint, Netskope).\\li>Previous experience in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, legal).
