Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Experimental Particle Physics

Join us for a challenging and rewarding role as a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Experimental Particle Physics.

The appointee will undertake a research programme of international repute in high-energy experimental particle physics, as a member of one of the CERN LHC experiments CMS or LHCb. They will complement and broaden existing research in the School that includes electroweak and top physics, diffraction and ultra-peripheral collisions.

This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in the field and to contribute to the development of new research initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to publish their research in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, supervise research students in our MSc and PhD programmes, and establish collaborations with research groups in the School of Physics or elsewhere.

The appointee will also coordinate and deliver elements of the School's BSc and MSc taught programmes, including classroom and laboratory teaching, project and group-work supervision, as well as inter-programme teaching. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct innovative research in experimental particle physics
  • Teach and supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with other research groups
  • Contribute to the development of research grants and proposals
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide committees

Requirements:

  • PhD in Experimental Particle Physics or a related field
  • Postdoctoral experience in experimental particle physics
  • Strong publication record in high-impact factor journals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
