Job Summary
Candidates are sought for the position of Engineering Technician Trainee/Senior Engineering Technician NY HELPS. The selected individual will assist in the performance of civil engineering work and provide engineering support services to engineers.

The incumbent will participate in field survey work, collect and analyze engineering data, review contracts and specifications, and prepare and review maps and plans. They may also serve a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations. This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications for this position. These requirements include either one year of experience assisting in engineering or related fields, or completion of specific college coursework. For the Senior Engineering Technician position, additional requirements include two years of experience or an associate's degree in a relevant field.
