Lead Control Systems Engineer

About the Position

We are seeking a seasoned control systems engineer to take on a leadership role in our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing building automation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Project Support (20%): Provide technical guidance for a project team of 2-5 engineers, identify and assign tasks within the project team, lead customer meetings, and assist with proposal generation by estimating hardware costs and the engineering effort required for a project.
  • Instrumentation & Electrical Design (30%): Create instrument lists by examining P&ID drawings, research instrumentation and select devices appropriate for the project, compile submittal documentation for controls and instrument hardware, create panel layouts and electrical schematics for controls enclosures, procure project hardware, and provide technical support for panel fabrication technicians.
  • System Design and Configuration (30%): Lead customer design review meetings, configure user interface and HMI screens, configure DDC, PLC and/or DCS control algorithms, execute internal functional and quality control testing, draft system documentation, and assist in customer demonstrations and acceptance testing.
  • Onsite System Installation (20%): Install project software and configuration onto site systems, participate in point-to-point loop checks for all instrumentation, perform software calibration and tuning, conduct functional tests of all systems, troubleshoot installation discrepancies, support additional customer testing, program field modifications as required, and train customer representatives on operations and maintenance of the system.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Experience: Bachelors Degree in a technical field or related Technical Degree, 3+ years of experience in a related field/industry, controls experience in at least one of the following: Rockwell, Aveva System Platform, Inductive Ignition Perspective, Distech, Johnson Controls, Tridium, SQL, scripting languages (VBA, Python, etc.), knowledge of Kepware OPC server, ThinManager, VMware.
  • HVAC Experience/Knowledge: Basic understanding of HVAC systems in large building automation systems, understanding of sequence of operations and P&IDs for HVAC and plant utilities, experience with functional testing, including the ability to create, maintain, and execute test plans, and experience with specifying instrumentation and control valves for HVAC systems.
