Mechanical Systems Specialist

The Mechanical Systems Specialist programme is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform as a qualified craftsman. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, apprentices will be responsible for providing support services to the site as part of the facilities team, specialising in mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support to facilities, quality assurance, automation, engineering, operations or other areas as required
  • Installing, testing, servicing and maintaining a range of engineered equipment
  • Assembling, installing, testing, commissioning, and carrying out fault diagnostics on electrically powered systems
  • Completing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on plant and equipment

In addition to technical skills, successful candidates will also be expected to:

  • Follow site environmental, health and safety policies and strive to maintain an accident-free environment
  • Evaluate documentation of maintenance activities to current GxP standards in both paper-based records and computerised maintenance systems
  • Maintain the physical condition and environment of all areas
  • Support continuous improvement, housekeeping and lean initiatives

This role may be suitable for those who are interested in mechanical systems and possess logical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. A Leaving Certificate, including a pass in Maths and a Science or Engineering subject, is also required.
