About the Role

The Defence Forces is seeking a skilled professional to join the Naval Service as an Engine Room Artificer. This opportunity allows you to develop your skills and contribute to maritime security and defence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, repair, and ensure the efficient operation of ship propulsion systems, power generation, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out troubleshooting procedures to ensure continuous operation.
  • Assist in emergency response situations, including fire-fighting and damage control duties.
Requirements:
  • Citizen of the Irish State or legal entitlement to reside and work in the State for the period of any such appointment.
  • Good character and satisfactory security clearance.
  • Meet minimum standards of medical and physical fitness.
  • Completed one of the following professional qualifications: HETAC Level 7 Degree in Marine Engineering, HETAC Level 7 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, FAS/Solas Standard Based Craft of Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting, FAS/Solas Standard Based Craft of Diesel Fitter, FAS/Solas Standard Based Crafts of Motor Mechanic, Department of Marine & Natural Resources Engineer Officer of the Watch (EOOW) Certificate of Competency, or national equivalent.
