Collins McNicholas is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team based in Tullamore. As a key member of the design engineering team, you will be at the forefront of innovation, designing custom machines, jigs, and fixtures that power the assembly of high-end audio products used worldwide.
About the RoleThis exciting opportunity offers a unique chance to work at the intersection of mechanical design and innovation. You will collaborate with engineering teams across Ireland, Switzerland, and Germany, bringing your concepts from CAD to production floor reality.
- Create detailed designs for tools and machines using 3D software (CAD).
- Design jigs and fixtures – special custom tools that hold parts in place during assembly or testing.
- Work closely with other engineers and team leads to ensure designs fit into the full production process.
- Combine mechanical parts with electrical components when needed.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (or similar 3rd level degree).
- Strong experience in 3D design software (CAD) – preferably CREO, but Solid Works or CATIA is a plus.
- At least 35 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience of assembly & integration of mechanical designs.
- Able to think ahead, solve problems, and adapt quickly to changes.
- Good communication skills – working with different teams and nationalities.
