Job Overview

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring regulatory compliance across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs to ensure alignment with corporate, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing expert guidance on Industrial Hygiene practices and serving as a site Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Conducting thorough Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessments based on activities performed on the site.
  • Liaising with Global Health to review and specify Site Entry Guidelines (SEGs) for seamless integration.
  • Collaborating with external consultants to complete Occupational hygiene monitoring and coordinating other related activities as required.
  • Reviewing New Chemical Introductions and managing the SDS database to ensure accuracy regarding chemicals used on site.
  • Maintaining the Chemical Register for the site and introducing new chemicals to the site.
  • Developing comprehensive Emergency Response Plans for the site, including training teams based on risk profile.
  • Managing Contractors and Permit-to-Work processes for the site.
  • Providing regular Metrics reports for the site and submitting timely reports to Corporate EHS.
  • Chairs bi-monthly meetings with the EHS Refresh Team to ensure adherence to relevant standards.
  • Delivering engaging presentations for EHS Management Reviews.

This role requires a strong understanding of EHS principles and regulations, with experience in the MedTech industry or equivalent. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements
  • A third-level qualification in Science, Engineering, or EHS, with at least 5 years' experience in Environment, Health, and Safety.
  • Good knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in Environment, Health, and Safety.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including dashboards, Excel, PowerPoint, and KPI tracking.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 would be an advantage.
