This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a senior academic staff member in General Nursing. As Assistant Professor, you will be responsible for teaching and learning activities, contributing to research and scholarship, and providing service to the School and University.
Job Description:
- To contribute to the teaching and learning activity of the School by coordinating and delivering modules in a manner consistent with the highest academic standards;
- To use a wide range of teaching and assessment methodologies which foster a deep approach to learning and which equip students with the skills and attributes needed to be lifelong learners;
- To work proactively to enhance and enrich existing modules and programmes;
- To contribute to the design and development of new modules and programmes;
- To provide research supervision for taught postgraduate students.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- To conduct research and scholarly activities that align with the School's research agenda and profile;
- To publish new ideas and findings in high impact international journals;
- To achieve measurable impact via citations;
- To generate research income to support research initiatives;
- To contribute to research activities such as conferences, seminars etc.;
- To attract and supervise postgraduate research students;
- To contribute to the research culture and environment in the School and, where appropriate, working collaboratively on research initiatives.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- A PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field;
- Registration or eligibility to register as a General Nurse in the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI);
- Demonstrable evidence of a strong clinical background in general nursing;
- Previous teaching experience in an academic setting or in a service setting;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with evidence of successful teamwork and a collaborative and collegial approach;
- Able to develop excellent work relationships with colleagues both in the university and healthcare/service environments.
