Job Title:

R&D Tax Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and evaluate eligible Irish tax credits, grants, and incentive schemes to support business growth.
  • Provide expertise in structuring projects to meet incentive eligibility criteria for optimal financial outcomes.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on R&D tax credits, KDB, and other innovation-related tax regimes to ensure compliance and maximize benefits.
  • Model the financial impact of tax reliefs and grant funding to inform business planning and strategy.
  • Track and forecast tax credit claims and grant receipts across various projects to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Legal, Grant Coordinators, and Government Affairs teams to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Liaise with Revenue, IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, and external advisors as required to stay informed and up-to-date on regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership highlighting opportunities, risks, and key performance indicators to drive business success.
  • Maintain audit-ready supporting documentation for all tax and grant claims to ensure seamless auditing and compliance.
  • Stay informed on legislative changes and proactively assess implications for the organization to remain competitive and compliant.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, Economics, or related field with strong analytical skills.
  • 3–5 years' experience in financial analysis or tax advisory with proven knowledge of Irish tax incentives and ability to apply that knowledge effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of Revenue's R&D tax credit regime, Knowledge Development Box (KDB), and capital allowances with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, or similar grant-awarding bodies is advantageous with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills with proficiency in Microsoft and project management tools to drive results and efficiency.
Preferred Certifications:
  • ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent financial/tax professional qualification preferred but not essential.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and build effective relationships.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities with excellent time management skills.
  • Clear and structured communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information effectively and concisely.
