This temporary 12-month term role requires a contractor with experience in clinical leadership, management, and technical expertise to oversee the management of resources and development within the simulation department.

Mercy University Hospital Cork is a growing voluntary hospital providing complex diagnostic, medical, and surgical care through our inpatient, day patient, outpatient, and emergency services. We are a teaching hospital renowned for our research and tertiary services, living by our Core Values of Compassion, Excellence, Justice, Respect, and Team Spirit.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with course/programme leaders and the MUH Simulation Based Education Steering Committee to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate simulation-based education and events.
- Provide professional and clinical leadership in the simulation department and oversee the management of resources and development.
- Take a leadership role in the development of the simulation facility and promote simulation methodologies, adhering to standards of best practice.
- Support the delivery and implementation of the National Strategy for Simulation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate interprofessional simulation-based education and events, learning objectives, case scenarios, programme planning, and evaluation methodologies.
Requirements:
Candidates should have:
- A registration in the relevant Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives.
- The willingness to complete the Diploma Programme in Healthcare Simulation and Patient Safety, if not already in possession of this qualification, within the first year of appointment.
- At least 5 years post-registration full-time (or an aggregate of 5 years post-registration full-time) experience, with 2 years (or an aggregate of 2 years post-registration full-time experience) in the specialty or related area.
- The clinical, managerial, administrative, and technical capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
