Catering Assistant - Patient Food Services

Work in a team environment to deliver excellent patient food service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Take accurate patient meal orders, considering various dietary requirements.
  2. Prepare and serve meals to patients throughout the day.
  3. Maintain patient bedrooms after meals, washing dishes and cleaning equipment.
  4. Ensure patients receive light refreshments and water during the working day.

Working Hours: Normal shifts are 7.30am to 6.30pm, with weekends worked in rotation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately record patient meal orders to meet their dietary needs.
  • FOLLOW GOOD PRACTICE WITH REGARD TO HYGIENE, HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND FOOD HANDLING GUIDELINES.
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules, using recommended detergents to clean equipment and work areas.
  • Leave catering areas clean and hygienic at the end of each shift.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a catering team to achieve high customer service standards.
  • Minimize waste and contribute to improving waste reduction initiatives.
  • Provide a positive and welcoming experience for hospital patients.
  • Assist with record keeping as directed by management.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in food service is highly desirable.
  • Certifications in food handling, such as HACCP or Cleanpass training, will be considered positively.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
